Monster bites

These apple monster bites will look great at any Halloween party. Cheap, easy to make - and so cute, they are great healthy Halloween treats!

Ingredients

  • 8 medium apples
  • A small jug of water
  • Juice of 1 medium lemon
  • 16 slivered/blanched almonds or pine nuts - toasted optional
  • 8 small jelly sweets - like jelly tots

Method

  1. Cut the apples into quarters
  2. Then cut a 2cm wide wedge into each quarter
  3. Add a small amount of lemon juice to the water
  4. Dunk the apples in the lemon juice and water, this stops the apples turning brown
  5. Use the slivered almonds or pine kernels to make the teeth
  6. Cut the jellies in half and place sticky side down to make the eyeballs

What you will need

  • Chopping board
  • Chopping knife
  • Measuring jug(for liquids)

Serving suggestions

Raisins or sultanas can be used instead of jelly sweets and sunflower seeds instead of nuts
