Ingredients

  • 450g of lean minced beef or lamb
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 2-3 garlic cloves
  • 2 dessertspoons of tomato puree
  • 400g tin of chopped tomatoes

Method

  • Place minced meat in a large bowl
  • Fry the onion and garlic until golden brown
  • Add a little water and tomato puree to the pan
  • Cook for a few minutes
  • Add this mixture to the minced meat and mix well
  • Shape into meatballs with damp hands
  • Drain any excess fat from the pan or gently pat the meatballs with kitchen paper to remove any excess fat
  • Add the can of chopped tomatoes to the frying pan and season with pepper
  • Cook the meatballs gently in the frying pan for 15-20 minutes, turning occasionally
