Porridge

Porridge is a quick and easy breakfast. If you haven’t tried porridge in years or if you have memories of a grey solid lump in a bowl, it’s worth trying again using this recipe.

Ingredients

  • 40g / 1½ oz. of porridge oats
  • 240ml / 8½ fl oz. of semi-skimmed milk
  • 1 teaspoon of honey

Method

  1. Put all ingredients in a saucepan and gradually bring it to the boil.
  2. Then turn the heat down and simmer for 5 to 10 minutes.
  3. Stir occasionally until it is a creamy texture.
  4. If it gets too thick, add a little more semi-skimmed milk or water.
  5. Add your favourite topping like fruit, seeds or nuts.

What you will need

  • Cutlery
  • Saucepan
  • Wooden spoon

Serving suggestions

Top your porridge with chopped strawberries, a handful of berries (raspberries, blueberries or blackberries) or sunflower seeds.

"Cinnamon is a nice addition to porridge. Why not give it a go?"
