Baked raisin apples

A tasty sweet recipe using apples, especially at Hallow'een, this is a great alternative to toffee apples.

About this recipe

This recipe was adapted from the Allergy NI cookbook "Parties, Picnics & Packed Lunches"


Ingredients

  • 4 large apples
  • 85g / 3 oz. of maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoons of chopped raisins
  • 1 tablespoon of dairy-free margarine
  • ½ teaspoon of cinnamon, optional

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 220⁰C / 425⁰F / Gas Mark 7
  2. Core the apples and score the skin around the middle using a sharp vegetable knife
  3. Combine and mix the syrup, raisins and cinnamon (optional) in a small mixing bowl
  4. Place each apple on aluminum foil and stuff its core with the filling
  5. Spread a little of the margarine over the top of each apple
  6. Wrap the foil securely around the apples and bake in the oven for 35 minutes

Serving suggestions

Serve with dairy-free cream or dairy-free custard
