Homemade oven chips

Making your own chunky chips is a great way to reduce the fat and oil found in fried alternatives

Ingredients

  • 2 medium potatoes
  • 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil

Method

  1. Pre-heat oven to 200ºC/400ºF/Gas Mark 6
  2. Peel, wash and slice the potatoes into wedges
  3. Toss the potato wedges together with the vegetable oil in a bowl making sure that the potatoes get coated with the oil
  4. Transfer to a baking tray and place in the preheated oven for approximately 30 minutes, turning occasionally, until they are crisp on the outside and tender on the inside

What you will need

  • Baking tray
  • Mixing bowl
  • Vegetable peeler

Serving suggestions

For extra flavour, sprinkle with a little rosemary before putting them in the oven.  You can also swap regular potato with sweet potato if desired
