Sage and onion stuffing

This is a quick and easy stuffing to make.

  • 4 slices of wholegrain bread
  • 1 medium onion
  • 4 teaspoons of fresh chopped sage or 2 teaspoons of dried sage
  • 1 teaspoon of vegetable oil
  • Black pepper, to taste

  • Make the breadcrumbs by blending in a food processor or grating with a cheese grater
  • Chop the onion finely
  • Heat the oil in a saucepan and add the chopped onion
  • Cook gently so that the onion softens but doesn't go brown. Remove from the heat
  • Add the breadcrumbs and sage. Add a little ground black pepper to taste
  • Press the stuffing gently into an ovenproof dish and cook separately for 15 to 20 minutes just before the turkey is ready

What you will need

  • Cheese grater
  • Large loaf tin
  • Mixing bowl
  • Saucepan
