Obesity stigma education for all
A practical workshop for healthcare professionals on recognising and reducing weight bias, promoting person-centred communication and creating more inclusive experiences for people living with obesity.
Date: Wednesday, 8 July 2026
Time: 6pm
Venue: St Mary’s Lecture Hall St Mary’s Hospital Campus, Phoenix Park, Dublin,
The objective of the workshop is to support professionals to recognise, understand and help reduce obesity stigma in practice. The session will promote respectful, person-centred communication and support participants to reflect on attitudes, language and behaviours that may contribute to weight bias or stigma. It will also provide practical approaches to help create more inclusive, supportive and non-stigmatising experiences for people living with obesity.
This workshop is tailored to professionals working in patient-facing roles, including nurses, dietitians, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, GPs and other relevant professionals who engage directly with people living with obesity.
