Toasted cheese and tomato

This light meal or snack is loved by all as it is quick tasty and economical!

  • 2 slices of wholegrain bread
  • 50g / 2 oz. of low-fat cheddar cheese, grated
  • 2 teaspoons soft low-fat margarine or spread
  • 2 teaspoons of tomato puree


  1. Pre-heat the grill
  2. Toast the bread on one side
  3. Toast the other side until it crisps but has not turned brown
  4. Mix the grated cheese, margarine and puree together and spread over the toast
  5. Grill for about 2 minutes until bubbling and starting to brown

What you will need

  • Cheese grater
  • Chopping board
  • Chopping knife

Serving suggestions

Serve with a side of salad
